Anna Dahlgren – Abstract and bio

Rethinking the Social Photograph in the age of digital interconnectivity

How can social – digital – photography be understood both in relation to contemporary culture and in relation to historical periods? With inspiration from image studies and media studies this presentation focuses historical continuities and discontinuities in relation to photography as a technique, medium, and cultural practices and the implications these might have for memory institutions who seek to collect social digital photography.
